"In summer the song sings itself."

Poet William Carlos Williams gave us that lovely thought. And this summer, I'm carrying it further and singing my own song or, put another way, taking time to work on my own writing. I'll be leading the July and August workshops outlined under that heading here, but beyond the workshops, I'll have limited time for consultations or conversations.

If you need to reach me, the best way is to call the Skylark number - 360/321-1910 and leave a message. I'll get back to you when there's a clear spot in my schedule. We can set up an appointment for a consultation at my regular rate of $65/hour.  And if you have other writing topics to discuss, hold that thought and get back to me in September. By then, I should have my project - revising the Vietnam novel - complete and will be ready to rejoin the conversations again.

As you know, I advise writers all the time to make time and space for their work. I hope you'll take my summer adventure to heart and do the same for your own writing. It's the only way to get those words on the page and then fix them.

Molly Larson Cook has been writing and helping writers of all ages appreciate both the hard work and pleasure of writing for over 25 years. She is a published author who now lives, writes and teaches on Whidbey Island, Washington. Her lively, encouraging, and innovative approach to writing instruction brings a unique perspective to her workshops and coaching.

"Molly has the comfortable manner of a country doctor and the 'no-nonsense' stick-to-the-task-at-hand manner of a seasoned coach. She inspires/evokes my creativity with her fun and fruitful exercises, and I never feel embarrassed to share even my roughest creation."
--Monty Moore, Portland

"Writing about my life for my children is a goal I've held for a long time without acting on it. Molly got me started and gave me excellent tools. Now I write regularly and participate in a workshop with a welcoming group of people who share similar goals. Ultimately my stories will become a collection that I can give each member of my family. Thank you, Molly!"
--Mary Richardson, Whidbey Island

"The space you create for exploring one's own story in an atmosphere that is positive, warm, and encouraging made all the difference to me. Thank you, thank you."
--Sheri Mar Carlberg, Whidbey Island
