From Skylark writer, Peggy Zafarana
A Metaphor for Writing
"i want my writing to be like a bird, flying over, under, and through the forests of great words, sometimes pausing to reflect on a sentence that feels good, sometimes swooping over a meadow of wonderful essays, or singing loudly the praises of a well thought out piece of fiction. i would soar like an eagle to great heights with strong messages, or hover silently over a delicate poem. the sense of birdsong would bring me joy."

Were you intimidated by all the rules you learned for writing?
At Skylark, we have just two rules for writing:
l. Get the words down.
2. Fix them.

Molly Larson Cook has been writing and helping writers of all ages appreciate both the hard work and pleasure of writing for over 25 years. She is a published author who now lives, writes and teaches on Whidbey Island, Washington. Her lively, encouraging, and innovative approach to writing instruction brings a unique perspective to her workshops and coaching.

"Molly has the comfortable manner of a country doctor and the 'no-nonsense' stick-to-the-task-at-hand manner of a seasoned coach. She inspires/evokes my creativity with her fun and fruitful exercises, and I never feel embarrassed to share even my roughest creation."
--Monty Moore, Portland
"Writing about my life for my children is a goal I've held for a long time without acting on it. Molly got me started and gave me excellent tools. Now I write regularly and participate in a workshop with a welcoming group of people who share similar goals. Ultimately my stories will become a collection that I can give each member of my family. Thank you, Molly!"
--Mary Richardson, Whidbey Island
"The space you create for exploring one's own story in an atmosphere that is positive, warm, and encouraging made all the difference to me. Thank you, thank you."
--Sheri Mar Carlberg, Whidbey Island
